Thoughts On Totalitarianism
I believe that any country utilizing Totalitarianism Government would be unethical and unjust in that it takes away every man’s unalienable right as a human being that he was given and, has a right to, at birth. “They are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” (Thomas Jefferson). In my research on Totalitarianism, it really comes right down to greed for wealth, and in order to obtain this wealth, you have to control. Anyone doing business in a country with this type of government is definitely lacking compassion for the people of that country for their own selfish benefit. What does define Totalitarianism? Yes, there are and were countries that are well known for Totalitarianism such as Russia , Germany and India to name a few where the governments of these countries were obviously cruel and brutal towards its citizens for the sake of economic growth supposedly. These countries didn’t try to hide they wanted control. So when seeing this kind of action on TV or reading about it was, to say the least, was revolting and disgusting in our eyes. What happens when Totalitarianism is not quite so obvious, not so physically brutal, but being done subliminally and very subtle. Does this make it right, or more acceptable? Definition of Totalitarianism from our Webster Dictionary: 1. “centralized control by an autocratic authority”. 2. “A political concept that the citizens should by totally subject to an absolute state authority”. Definition of Autocratic: 1. “Absolute”. 2. “Despotic” Definition of Absolute: l. “Governed by, or characteristics of a ruler or authority completely free from constitutional or other restraints”. Definition of Despotic: 1. “A ruler with absolute power and authority”. 2. “A person exercising power tyrannically”. Let’s break this down, A ruler with absolute power and authority=Our US Government; A person exercising power tyrannically=Adolph Hitler, Stalin & more. These being under the same definition of Totalitarianism. Definition of Paternalism: 1. “A system under which an authority undertakes to supply needs or regulate conduct of those under its control in matters affecting them as individuals as well as in their relations to authority and to each other”. A precondition of freedom is the recognition of the individual’s capacity to make decisions for himself: An unalienable right. If the individual man or business were viewed as congenitally incapable of making rational choices, there would be no basis for the very concept of “Rights”. Yet that is how our government is increasingly views us. I believe our government is adopting Totalitarianism, keenly protecting the citizen or business against his own actions. In the process our freedom “WE THE PEOPLE” whether individual or business is disappearing. |
