Physiological And Cognitive Componets Of Emotions That I Personally Experienced During A 3 Day Period.
This article will cover physiological and cognitive components of emotions that I personally experienced during a 3 day period. My physiological components of Happy are that I feel contentment, pleasurable, satisfied, energized and just all over bubbly. My cognitive components for the emotion of Happiness I felt this week were I wake up thinking I love life that this is a beautiful world to live in. I thought it was about time my co-worker did receive a raise, I was very happy for her. I think I am so lucky I have such wonderful grandkids, and get to see them almost everyday. I was so happy my son received the promotion he has been working so hard for. I thought he was very deserving. I think that I am very fortunate to have such a nice and considerate boss. I love working for him. My physiological components of being Amused this week were appealing to my sense of humor. My cognitive components for the emotion of Amused were I was shocked at what was being said, I was thinking “oh my gosh, I can’t believe he is saying this”. My physiological components of being Frustrated were a feeling of tenseness, angry and helpless. My cognitive components for the emotion of Frustrated were; can’t she be a little nicer when she talks to her, and there is absolutely nothing I can do about the situation. My second cognitive components were; why can’t people be more responsible, and can’t people be a little nicer. My third cognitive components were; why didn’t he call me and let me know, I have that right, and what’s he coming to town for anyway, I don’t want to see him. My physiological components of Relief were a feeling of less stress and being more relaxed. My cognitive components were; wow, I’m sure glad you’re taking care of that, I feel a lot better, now I don’t have to worry about it. My physiological components of Stress were a feeling of knots in my stomach, mad and worried. My cognitive components were; I better get this done or I’m in big trouble, and why should you expect me to do something that you wouldn’t do yourself. Why are you so dictative? My physiological components of Worried were tense feeling and feeling sick to my stomach. My cognitive components were; boy! I hope he finds something soon, maybe I can help. My physiological components of Content were a feeling of satisfaction and well being. My cognitive components were; I sure do love it when they come over, I am so lucky. Also, I think that I am very satisfied with my life. My physiological components of Eager this week were that of excitement and anticipation. My cognitive components were; wow, this is a cool assignment, I can’t wait to start it. My physiological components of Enthusiastic were of desire and interest. My cognitive components were; Good, we’re going to start utilizing other avenues in this business, I’m really excited about this. I think this is going to be a lot of fun and can’t wait to get started. My physiological components of Pleased were that of pleasure, satisfaction and mellow. My cognitive components were; wow, he complimented me on my work, he is obviously satisfied with my accomplishments so far. My physiological components of Sensual/Sexy were a feeling of warmth, confidence and even a little silly. My cognitive components were; cool, he gave me a very nice compliment, I wonder when he is going to ask me out because I will certainly say the yes word. In conclusion, physiological components of my emotions were things that I felt as a result of an incident that was body related such as, sick to my stomach, muscle tension, or relaxed and etc. My cognitive components of emotions were what I was thinking at the time of an incident, such as, wow, he complimented me on my work, he is obviously satisfied with my accomplishments so far. The belief that we are at the mercy of our irrational emotions has been part of western culture for centuries. Cognitions and emotions, with the clash between them causing eternal miseries have been regarded as two separate. However, modern psychological research shows that the historical distinction between our rational human abilities of thought and our supposedly irrational mammalian heritage of emotion is a false one. Human cognition involves many biases in what we perceive and remember, it is not always rational. (Pyschology, p. 386-387, 2006) Emotion is the affective aspect of consciousness (Webster’s Dictionary n.d.)
