An Extended Definition Concerning The Concept of Success
Succss; the favorable or prosperous termination of attempts or endeavors; the attainment of wealth, position, honors, or the like, a successful performance or achievement: "The play was an instant success", a person or thing that is successful: "She was a great success on the talk show", won by reason of merit and critical respect rather than popularity. Success is not merely in attaining a certain status; to succeed and then to lose one's balance is the height of failure. To succeed and then to make proper use of that which is attained is success. In the Divine Logos, succcess is symboolized by the Absolute Wiswdom. in the intellectual world, succes is prudence directed by the organized and developed will. In the physical world succes is circumspection directing action through knowledge. Everyone may be said to be the heritage of real success. Being the heritage of real success implies that everyone has the capability to succeed in some one sphere of activity. A person must plan well and aim high if he has a desire to be successful. If he is willing to prepare himself, and having prepared himself, make the necessary effort. Success may be accidental, but it cannot result from slipshod methods. Preparation is essential. The lack of ability to achieve success is due to our weaknesses, to the need of courage to go forward and to the dearth of inner perception. The possession of these qualities--courage and inner percetion--is essential for us in the struggle to win. Lack of preparation frequently invalidates every effort made, even destroying the benefit of the success itself. The successful man in any calling is the one who can truly say, "I am master of at least one thing". With the exception of a few master minds, the men whose namesw have been handed down to us by historians are those whose lives were devoted to some single great achievement, and who gave their every effort to the accomplishment of what they conceived as their ideal. "We, who must succeed in the accomplishment of a set purpose, are we who standing firm, fix a certain mark and prepare ourselves for the purpose in mind; from this course the Will never swerves or changes."
